My name is Michael, I'm an artist from the island of Öckerö situated on the west coast of Sweden. I have been collecting odd materials in nature since I was a small child. When I left for my first journey 13 years ago I maintained an open eye for strange shapes and forms that kept presenting themselves on my path as I wandered the forests and beaches. I always brought some of it back home with me. While travelling through Latin America 7 years ago I started making small wood carvings, earrings and pendants as a way of entering their culture and learning their language. The experience had a strong influence on me and I kept on making various artforms over the years but mostly jewellery and clothes. I use a lot of seeds in my art, to me they are a symbol of life and our capacity to grow as human individuals. Each piece of wood and stone hold their own energy and story and I write as often as I can the origins of each piece. When I am using bones and teeths from animals I believe I am honoring the departed spirit of those animals. When making something beautiful with them, giving them new life, by making organic art I hope to inspire people to be more aware of how important this earth is to us and feel that we can have a positive influence living in it on a more concious level.
